Good evening. Welcome to Calvary. Glad that you're here. As we get ready to get going here tonight, I wanted to just kind of talk a little bit about worship, read a little passage of Scripture, and then we'll pray and get started. So I think sometimes we can lose track of what worship is supposed to be all about in the world that we live in and what our culture has kind of done with worship and turning it into a performance.
But really, praise, worshiping the Lord is a response to everything that God is, to everything that God has done, and to the work that He does in our lives. And so as we get going here, I just want to read a little passage of Scripture to you. With this being Holy Week and us looking forward to Good Friday and then, of course, celebrating the resurrection, I wanted us to kind of focus our hearts in on the cross. And so I want to read a portion of Scripture to you out of Isaiah 53.
It's verses 3. It says,
And that's ultimately why we praise God, because of what He has done for us with the work of the cross. So as we praise tonight, just really allow your heart to focus in on the Lord and to pour out your praise to Him for everything that He is and everything that He's done. And during this time tonight, again, I'll be over here on the front row. If anybody needs prayer for anything, you can come up, and I'd be happy to pray with you.
But let's open up with prayer. So if you would stand with me, and let's pray. Father, we come before You. And Lord, I just thank You. Thank You for the work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Lord, I thank You for the great love with which You have loved us. I thank You for the grace that You show to us on such a consistent basis. And Lord, I thank You for the grace that You show to us on such a consistent basis.
And Lord, I thank You that You saw fit to pour out Your love upon us in the way that You did. And so, Lord, focus our hearts on You. Focus our minds on You. And bring us into a place where we really pour out our hearts to You in worship. And we just thank You and we praise You, Father. In Jesus' name, amen. And Lord, You are worth in glory and praise. Amen.
Oh, God, we just thank You. Lord, God, we just can't help but praise You for who You are. What You've done for us, Lord God. The freedom that we have in You, Lord. The fact that You arrested sin and death. That You conquered it and overcame it. You were resurrected, Lord. That means that we get to have new life with You. Lord God, we just thank You. Lord, thank You that our sins, in You, our sins are forgiven.
And in You, we have new life. God, we just can't help but praise You, Lord. Thank You. Jesus, He's been mine after.
Washed in His. He's been mine after. Lord God, even when we weren't faithful, Lord, You were.
Lord, You've proven Yourself time and time and time and time again.
Lord, You are so good to us. So kind. So faithful, Lord God. You're a good Father. God, You are so good.
Such a good Father. And Lord, You are perfect. We've seen that one more time.
Man's ways have not been kind to us.
We've been broken down, Lord, and trampled. Abused. Abused, Lord God. But Lord, You are perfect in all of Your ways to us. Lord, You love us so much, Father, that You sent Your only Son to pay the price that we rightfully deserve on that cross. So that we can have a right relationship with You. Our perfect Father. Our good, good Father. Once more. Father, You're so good to us.
Despite all of our sin and our rebellion, Lord God, You are good to us. Father, we love You and we praise You.
What a joy it is to be in Your house this evening. Lord, what a joy it is just to see You work in our lives, in mine, Lord Jesus. Lord, I just pray that Your Holy Spirit tonight would just do something awesome and mighty.
We desire to see You move, Lord. Move mightily in our lives. You're a big and mighty God. And You do big and mighty things, Lord.
To be able to lift praise to You. You're worthy of all honor. And may it be a sweet sound in your ear. You guys can go and sit back down if you want.
Lord God, again, You are so good to us.
When I look back on my life, Lord God, I can see Your goodness. I can see where You're working in my life. I see where You have been working. Lord, I can see where You've been there. And I didn't know. I know it. God, You've just been there and been so good to us, Lord God.
As we close out this evening, this last song, Lord God, we know how good and awesome and mighty You are, Lord God. Lord, we know how great You are. Lord, You're the one who gave us life. Lord, You're the one who brings light to the darkness. Lord, You are our hope. Lord, for those that have no hope, You are our hope. Where there is no hope, Lord, You are our hope.
Would you stand with me for this last one? Get us together in our mother's womb.
The breath of life into us. That we are made in Your image. Your breath of life into man. Into Your creation. Sing this last chorus, Lord. Let's use that breath.
All glory and honor due to You.
Oh, Lord Jesus, we just thank You for this evening, Lord. God, we give You praise. We give You thanks. We give You thanks for allowing us to be here.
You're worthy of all the honor and glory and praise for what You've done and for what You're doing, Lord, in our lives and what You're going to do. Father, as we leave here this evening, I just pray that Your Holy Spirit go with us and move mightily in our lives, Lord Jesus. Lord, let us feel Your presence. Let us know that You are there and that You're working.
That You're working everything out for our good and Your glory, Lord. We love You. We love You. We praise You. We thank You. In Jesus' name. All God's people said. Amen. Amen. You guys have a wonderful evening. God bless you. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen.
