To the book of Revelation, chapter 19 Revelation 19 Kids, it's about to get a lot happier Somebody just said, oh good It really is Jesus comes back in this chapter Right? Like, it's everything that we've been waiting for Like, trudging through Revelation is a little bit exactly what it sounds like Sometimes it's trudging through Revelation, right? Because, man, there's just, we've seen We've seen seals, we've seen bowls We've seen trumpets And all of those have brought massive amounts of judgment But it's been brought upon a world who had rejected Jesus Christ And now the world that had rejected Jesus Christ Is about to see Him arrive And so, chapter 19 breaks down into three different sections We're going to see the Hallelujah Chorus
We're going to see the Marriage Supper of the Lamb And we're going to see the Second Coming And so we start off in verse 1 of chapter 19 With the fourfold Hallelujah It says, after these things I heard something like a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven saying Hallelujah Hallelujah Salvation Glory And power belong to our God Because His judgments are true and righteous For He has judged the great harlot Who is corrupting the earth with her immorality And He has avenged the blood of His bondservants on her And a second time they said Hallelujah Her smoke rises up forever and ever And the twenty-four elders And the four living creatures fell down And worshiped God who sits on the throne of God
And the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sits on the throne of God And the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sits on the throne of God Saying, Amen, Hallelujah And a voice came from the throne saying Give praise to our God, all you His bondservants You who fear Him, the small and the great Then I heard something like the voice of a great multitude Like the sound of many waters And like the sound of mighty peals of thunder saying Hallelujah For the Lord our God, the Almighty reigns You may recognize that last verse that we covered Handled by the Lord our God And the people of Israel And the people of Israel And the people of Israel And it's based on that verse right there That is the entire chorus that he wrote
As a matter of fact It's fascinating to just go Google sometime Hallelujah chorus And see all the different All the different renditions Of the Hallelujah chorus I even watched a couple today That took place in malls If you remember somewhere around 2010 I think there was another one in 2019 Like flash mobs where they just started Singing the Hallelujah chorus And there's just something awe-inspiring About that Hallelujah chorus And it's because there's something awe-inspiring About the word Hallelujah As a matter of fact The last set of the psalms Are called the Hallel psalms The Hallelujah psalms Because they all say Hallelujah to the Lord Interestingly enough There's two words that are used One of the Greek and one's in the Hebrew
The Greek word is Hallelujah The Hebrew word is Hallelujah The Greek word is Alleluia But the transliteration of the word Is the Hebrew word used here Which is the only time it's used in the New Testament These four times For this word Hallelujah And that word simply means Praise the Lord Now it's interesting because John starts off this section by saying After these things We have to ask ourselves the question What things does this take place after? Well I think it directly follows Everything that we just read In Revelation chapter 17 and 18 In Revelation chapter 17 We saw the following We saw the fall of religious Babylon The false religious system That we have seen in all of world history But finds its culmination In the tribulational period
With the Antichrist himself We saw it destroyed But then we also saw Commercial Babylon That economic or global system That is opposed to the things of God We saw it destroyed And now after we see the destruction Of religious Babylon That had the blood of the saints on their hands And commercial Babylon That also had the blood of the saints on their hands The saints in heaven now begin To cry out Hallelujah Because you notice how it starts After these things I heard something like A voice of a great multitude in heaven I believe that this voice of the great multitude This great multitude that's singing in heaven Is actually the tribulation saints We'll see the church join in On the third Hallelujah But this is the tribulation saints
Those who lost their lives Because they came to faith in Christ During the tribulation And now they are finally seeing God's vengeance God has avenged their blood Something that they cried out for In the very beginning of Revelation They have seen God avenge their blood On those who had come against them And so we see this fourfold Hallelujah take place So it starts off by saying A loud voice of a great multitude in heaven Saying praise the Lord or Hallelujah And why do they praise the Lord? Well the first time they praise the Lord Because salvation and glory And power Belong to our God Because his judgments are true and righteous For he has judged the great harlot Who was corrupting the earth with her immorality And he has avenged the blood
Of his bondservants on her The first time they sing this Hallelujah Is because they are praising God For his great salvation Now our praising of God For that great salvation Hopefully began the day that we realized How great a salvation that we have In Jesus Christ I pray that as you read about this Praising of God that takes place In Revelation It doesn't just make you think Well in the end times We're going to be praising God a lot Listen we should start tuning up now We should start warming up now By praising God for this great salvation That he's given to us But the specific great salvation And glory and power that belong to our God Are in this section Because his judgments Are true And righteous And what were his judgments
Well everything that he did To Babylon Everything that he did to judge this world's system Now I find this to be an interesting statement That is made about this Hallelujah Chorus Because in this Hallelujah Chorus We're told something about who God is And that's that his judgments are always true and righteous You ever notice how many people get bothered By the judgmental sections of scripture Most people don't like the Old Testament Because of you ever notice that Maybe you don't know that You don't like the Old Testament because of that Because you look at the Old Testament And you go oh my gosh the Old Testament is nothing But God just slaying people And then God wiped them out And then God killed them Or God smote them Or David smote them
Because God told him to And we think does God just love bloodshed No But God is a righteous judge And a righteous judge if he is a good judge Will always judge evil What are we the most upset about In our world right now When it comes to the crimes That are being committed It's that when crimes are committed There is no justice that's given out right And most of us the majority of humanity Looks and they say that's wrong Something should be done about that Well God does something about it Only his judgment is not at all tainted By the things of this world It's not tainted by the jealousy of this world It's not tainted by the prejudice of this world It's not tainted by the sin of this world Because all of his judgments are true and righteous
And that should A. Give us great faith in God And B. Be a very sobering statement for us Because you know what that means God doesn't play God doesn't play favorites He's not like oh but gosh I just like them so much better So I'm not going to judge them No You're either covered in the blood of Jesus Or you're not And if you're not You're going to face judgment True and righteous are your judgments For he has judged the great harlot Who was corrupting The earth with her immorality And has avenged the blood Of his servants on her So the first hallelujah Is for the salvation of God Because of his judging of this great harlot And then we have the second hallelujah It says And a second time they said Hallelujah Her smoke rises up forever and ever
They say the same thing again They say praise the Lord But why do they praise the Lord this time Well they sing the hallelujah chorus this time Because her smoke Meaning the smoke of this great harlot That was judged Arises forever and ever That means That her judgment Is eternal This great harlot That caused so much issues for the saints This great harlot That caused so much destruction And death to everything That's considered holy in this world Listen Will never come back again The saints of this world Will never have to deal with this again Because God has brought judgment Upon her And her punishment Is eternal Then we have this third hallelujah It says And the twenty-four elders And the four living creatures Fell down And worshipped God
Who sits on the throne Saying Amen Hallelujah This time two other groups join in Now again If you've not looked up any of these Videos of the flash mobs Singing hallelujah It's kind of fascinating Because what starts off Is there's a handful of people That start off singing it Because that's the way these things work So there's a handful of people singing On the video that you're watching on YouTube You can kind of lightly hear Somebody playing the song Perhaps on an organ or a piano In the background And then you start to hear A few voices begin to rise And then pretty soon Some more voices join in Until eventually All of the voices in the place Are singing Except for the ones That have their phones filming And even some of them were singing
Until it reaches this crescendo Of the entire place Crying out Hallelujah For the Lord God Almighty reigns Right? And it's the most beautiful thing in the world That's exactly what takes place here The tribulation saints begin the singing But the 24 elders Which represent the church And the four living creatures Which represent all of the angelic host They can't help it They fell down And they worshiped God Who sits on the throne saying Hallelujah Isn't that great? Listen When people are really praising God Don't we find that we just kind of want to join in with them When people are really praising the Lord Don't we find that it's It's a little bit intoxicating, right? It's a little bit contagious When real true praise of God is taking place
And everybody else just wants to join in I love it on a Sunday morning When people start showing up And you can tell the ones That maybe like the week Worked them over a little bit And ones where Man, their hearts are really in tune With what God's doing Because the ones that the week Has kind of worked them over a little bit They kind of start out like that And you can tell them that they're not doing it You can see them kind of mouthing the words This is what I do as a pastor As I watch people, okay? It's what I do in life in general I just get to use the excuse of being a pastor now But eventually Other people around them are singing Because maybe their week hasn't Worked them over quite as much Or maybe they got a little bit more in tune
With the Holy Spirit Before they got to church And then pretty soon what happens is By the last song Do you ever notice it's always the last song? The last song is always When we get mildly Pentecostal up in here And I really appreciate that, right? Like I really appreciate When the whole group is singing And maybe some folks are standing Or maybe some people are singing Or maybe some folks are standing Or maybe some folks are standing Or the worship leader has all of us stand up And I see some hands going up Like it's okay It's okay, get them hands up to Jesus, alright? Nobody's watching Well, I am But I don't count I got my hands up too, right?
We all got our hands up singing and praising And you can almost feel the music swell Well, that's what takes place here The entire church gets involved Along with all of the angelic being And they cry out, Hallelujah! Why? Because they can't help it They're like, Amen, so be it! Hallelujah And then the fourth Hallelujah comes It says, It's great to read this in the Old King James Because it says, For the Lord God omnipotent Reigns Isn't that great?
I love that word, omnipotent It means all-powerful Same word that almighty means But it carries a little bit more weight When you use a word like omnipotent, right? For the Lord omnipotent reigns And at this point in time It's so loud that it's like standing next to a waterfall It's deafening Because the Hallelujah chorus is so great You know what I love is that we started off Revelation Praising God for who He is In the middle of Revelation We were praising God for who He is And now at the end of Revelation Right before Jesus comes back Right before the official unveiling Really does take place They're praising God for who He is Well, after this four-fold Hallelujah Sort of continues on as we talk about this Marriage Supper of the Lamb
Because this voice came from Heaven saying Hallelujah for the Lord our God The Almighty reigns The quotations continue as we move into verse 7 Talking about the Marriage Supper of the Lamb It says this Let us rejoice and be glad And be glad And be glad And be glad And be glad And give glory to Him For the marriage of the Lamb has come And His bride has made herself ready It was given to her To clothe herself in fine linen Bright and clean For the fine linen Is the righteous acts of the saints And then He said to me, right Blessed are those who are invited to the Marriage Supper Of the Lamb And He said to me These are the true words of God Then I fell at His feet to worship Him But He said to me Don't do this Don't do that
I'm a fellow servant of yours And your brethren who hold the testimony of Jesus Worship God For the testimony of Jesus Is the spirit of prophecy This voice continues This voice of clearly some sort of an angelic being continues And it says Let's rejoice and be glad Because the marriage of the Lamb has come And His bride has made herself ready If you know very much about Jewish wedding ceremonies We've talked about this a few times There's three main parts There's the betrothal And then there's the portion where The bridegroom goes and gets his bride And then she prepares herself For what's known as the wedding feast And these spans of time Can take a certain amount of time Right now we're in what's called the betrothal period
Because whether you realize this or not, fellas You're part of the bride of Christ You ladies, you're sons of God You men, we're part of the bride of Christ It's euphemism within Scripture And right now we have been given As Paul tells us in the book of Ephesians We have been given the, for lack of better terms Engagement ring of the Holy Spirit The down payment of the Holy Spirit Therefore we are awaiting the bridegroom Jesus said, I go away But if I go, I'll prepare a place for you And when I go, I'll come again and receive you unto myself That where I am there, you may be also The rapture is the bridegroom Coming to get the bride of Christ That's why the church can't go through this Because he takes us home to be with himself
And he prepares for us what's called the wedding feast Now there's a little bit of debate amongst commentators As to where this wedding feast actually takes place Does it take place on earth? Or does it take place in heaven? I don't care where it takes place And really that's what most of the commentators Eventually ended up saying We don't really care where it takes place As long as it takes place And it will take place This wedding feast This great celebration of the marriage Of the bride to the bridegroom And what we see is that the bride has made herself ready And how has the bride made herself ready? Well it was given to her To clothe herself in fine linen Verse 8 Bright and clean For the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints
So they're to rejoice because it's time And this is what the bride has done She has clothed herself in fine linen And the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints What does that mean? Well I think it takes on a two-fold form Number one We are clothed in the righteousness of Christ Amen That's the only thing that makes me acceptable To the bride Or to the groom That's the only thing that makes me acceptable to my Savior Is that I have been clothed in the righteousness of Christ However We are also told that we are to lay up for ourselves Treasures in heaven Where neither moth nor rust destroy And thieves can't break in and steal Paul as a prophet says As we get into 2 Corinthians Talks about our rewards He said listen
The things that you do on earth If they're of faith They're like precious jewels If they're of your flesh They're like wood, hay, and stubble And the fire will burn up the wood, hay, and stubble The only thing that will be left is the precious jewels Well I believe that's what he's talking about here When it says she has clothed herself in fine linen That's the things that we're laying up for ourselves in heaven They're works of faith It's what God has given for us to do It's his work in our life It's the fruit that we have to give to God It's the fruit that we produce Because of the work of the Holy Spirit But it still is a part of our wedding garment The righteous acts of the saints He goes on to say And then he said to me Right, blessed are those
Who are invited to the marriage Supper of the Lamb And he said to me These are true words of God Blessed are all those that get a wedding invitation Blessed are all those that are going to be allowed To be at the wedding Marriage supper of the Lamb And lest we think this all sounds Way too good to be true Because often times when we read about God's blessing In our life we think that's way too good to be true He finishes it off with this statement These Are the true words Of God Brothers and sisters I don't think that We can get quite excited enough About the fact that one day Jesus Is coming back for us To take us home to be with himself So that we can be with him Forever In a special position as that bride of Christ That's what we're waiting for
That's the hope that we have As believers in Jesus Christ And as we have this hope We who have this hope Purify ourselves My question for you is this Where are you laying up your treasures? Are you laying up your treasures on earth? Are you laying up your treasures here Where moth and rust can destroy And thieves can destroy And thieves can break in and steal Or are you laying up for yourself Treasures in heaven Those righteous acts of the saints Those Fruits of the spirit That are being produced inside of you By the power of the Holy Spirit Because after all Jesus goes on In that same section to say For where your treasure is There your heart will be also So he tells us about this Marriage supper of the Lamb
And John is so in awe of everything that he's seen Right now He's so in awe of the statement about The marriage supper of the Lamb This fourfold hallelujah That notice what he does This angel is so amazing That notice what he does He says then I fell at his feet to worship him But he said to me don't do that I'm a fellow servant of yours And your brethren who hold the testimony Of Jesus Worship God Listen Lest we fault John Just allow yourself For a moment to think about the awe Inspiring Experience that he's in the midst of At this point in time It's so fantastic that all he can think To do is I'm just going to fall down on my feet Or fall down on my knees and worship Because it feels like the right thing to do right now And as soon as he does
I love what this angel says He goes Don't do that that's a bad idea Listen I'm just a servant just like you I'm a servant just like you are And can I just Go ahead if I may Interject a little bit of personal application here We have to be careful Not to worship the instruments that God uses We have to be careful Not to worship the instruments that God uses In our lives We all have people in our lives that That are Amazing people that God has used in powerful ways Only we can Kind of have this tendency We can have this tendency to elevate Humans and put them in a place Where only God belongs Because God's used them in a powerful way in our life And we think man that person is so amazing And we can almost get a little bit of a
Of a hero worship complex with them We always joked about this When we were in Bible college About Chuck Smith That eventually we all had to throw our What would Chuck do bracelets away Because lest we lift him up As As if We should worship the instrument Listen it's not just him it can be with anyone We can all find ourselves In a place where we can put people in the place Where only God belongs But if they're really good people that really are worshiping God They'll say don't do that Don't do that I'm a servant Just like you are That's why like what I shared with you When Chuck came and spoke For the first time at Bible college they said listen He doesn't like for people to clap for him He just wants people to point to Jesus
Because that's what his life is all about And any good servant Of God it's the exact same thing They're going to do and that's exactly what this angel does He says don't do that I'm just a servant like you I hold the testimony of Jesus You should be worshiping God And they were given this really interesting line Right at the end of verse 10 It says for the testimony of Jesus Is the spirit of prophecy The testimony of Jesus Is the spirit of prophecy Now I'm just going to be honest This is what I am hoping is guiding All of my discussion in Revelation I hope it is going to guide any discussion When we get into the prophetic books in the Old Testament When we go back to the Old Testament And it's what should guide every bit of you
When you read anything that is prophetic in nature Anything that is prophetic Either speaking of future tense things Or is prophetic speaking of a word of God That someone has given to you Jesus is the spirit of all prophecy Because the revealing of Jesus Is the point of prophecy Because the revealing of Jesus Is the point of everything In this book It started in the very beginning In the beginning was the word And the word was with God And the word was God You ever notice how God Created the heavens and the earth It says He said Let there be light The spoken word The word Jesus Christ himself Was the one doing the creating And all throughout scripture Has been the revealing of Jesus Christ And now we've come to this very last book
This very last book of Revelation The unveiling of Jesus Christ And we've come to this very last book And if in all of the speculation that we do About what's going on in the Middle East About what's going on in Russia About what's going on here With all of the things in the economy And the world If in all of those things We miss Jesus We've missed the point of all of Revelation We've missed the point of all of prophecy Because we've missed the point of all of scripture And quite frankly brothers and sisters If you miss Jesus You've missed the point of life Because it's all about him You were created for him And so So now that we've seen the marriage supper of the Lamb It's time for Jesus to return It says And I saw heaven opened
And behold a white horse And he who sat on it is called faithful and true And in righteousness he judges And wages war His eyes are a flame of fire And on his head are many diadems And he has a name written on him Which no one knows Except himself He is clothed with a robe Dipped in blood And his name is called The word of God And the armies which are in heaven Clothed in fine linen White and clean Were following him on white horses From his mouth comes a Sharp sword So that with it he may strike down the nations And he will rule them with a rod of iron And he treads the winepress Of the fierce wrath of the Lord The wrath of God the Almighty And on his robe And on his thigh he has a name written King of kings And Lord of lords John sees heaven opened
He just had an angel say Hey dude you should stand up It's a really bad idea to worship me You should worship God So he stands up He's ready to worship God And heaven opens And who comes forth? A white horse carrying a rider Now I know that you all remember Everything we've talked about in the book of Revelation But I'm going to remind you anyway The last time we saw someone on a white horse Was the first horseman of the apocalypse Right? Back in the seal judgment And do you remember who we said That first rider on the white horse was? The Antichrist Coming out conquering And to conquer Interestingly enough Jesus comes riding on a white horse now Why?
Well because who's the Antichrist an imitator of? He's an imitator of Jesus right? But now the faithful and true Comes riding out on this white horse So heaven opens up And behold a white horse And he who is on it is called He who is on it is called Faithful and true Faithful to his character True to his nature This is not the counterfeit This is the real thing This is not the Antichrist This is the Christ This is not the one who tries to set himself up as God This is God And he comes riding in as such And when he comes riding in Nobody has a question on their mind anymore Nobody says to them Who's the guy on the white horse? No commentator found himself at this point And I'm going Who's the guy on the white horse?
You know why? Because we know exactly who it is Because while there may be a lot of questions About who the Antichrist is There is no question about who the Christ is Coming in riding on this white horse And notice what it says And in righteousness He judges and wages war In other words everything that he's about to do Is completely righteous I love this next part It says his eyes Are like a flame of fire In other words his eyes are so piercing And so pure that they can see through Every amount of deception And on his head are Many diadems Now again we've said that there's two different words That are used for a crown or a diadem In the Greek language One is the crown of a king And one is the crown of a victor
We've already seen him wear the victor's crown This time he's wearing the crown of a king Did you notice that it uses the plural term Diadem Why? Because he is the king of kings And he is the lord of lords We'll read about that in just a minute And so he's crowned with many crowns Many diadems And he has a name written on him Which no one knows except himself This is the one time In the book of Revelation Where nobody knows what it says And nobody speculated on it I found it to be fascinating And a little bit interesting too Does it bother you that he has a name written on him? That no one knows except himself? I'm going to be honest It bothers me a little bit I'm like, what's the name?
You know what? There's always going to be a little something about Jesus That we still don't fully grasp Because he's more than our minds can take in And if he wasn't more than our minds can take in It would make him less than God There's a name written on him Which no one knows except himself And notice how he's clothed He is clothed with a robe Dipped in pants And blood Why is he clothed in a robe Dipped with blood? Well, in just a minute we'll see that He's been treading the winepress He's been treading the winepress Of the fury of God's wrath And so his robe this time Is not dipped in his own blood As the Savior But it's dipped in the blood of those Who rebelled against him As their judge And I love this next part It says, and his name is called
The Word of God In grace In Greek, that phrase, the Word Speaks of a full expression A complete expression In other words He is called the complete expression of God That's why when John Wrote his gospel account He said, in the beginning was the Word The fullest expression And that fullest expression was with God And that fullest expression Was God Later on in that very first chapter He will say, no one has seen The Father at any time But Jesus has Revealed him To us Because he is the Word The expression of God Goes on from there to say In the armies which are in heaven Clothed in fine linen White and clean Were following him on white horses So he comes riding in First Just an amazing picture of Jesus With a sweet tattoo on his thigh
Diadems on his head Robe dipped in blood In just a minute there's going to be a sword Coming out of his mouth Just cruising in And there's an army behind him Do you notice how the army is described? Take note of it again It says, the armies which are in heaven Clothed in fine linen White and clean Where have we read that before? Look back up at verse 8 It was given to her, the bride of Christ The church To clothe herself in Fine linen Bright and clean That means, who is this army That's coming back with him to conquer? Dude, it's us It's the church, right?
This is one of the reasons why I believe in a rapture Because all of the statements in scripture That have to do with the rapture Tell us that we will be caught up to meet him where? Do you guys know? In the air Now, why would Jesus catch us up Just to bring us right back down? Like, oh, oh, let's go back Get on the horse, let's go No, we've been in heaven for a long time We've been in heaven with him this whole time And now we're the conquering army Coming back with him Coming back with Jesus And do you notice what we're all riding?
White horses Isn't it going to be great? You know what I know about these white horses? I bet they won't stink I bet they won't stop to poop And I bet I won't get saddle sores It's going to be amazing So we're all going to come riding in on white horses Now, as we're riding in on these white horses You notice where we are? We're behind Jesus Why? Because we don't do any
Fighting We're just like, yay, Jesus, get him Right? That's me riding a horse The Bonanza theme song is in my head right now I won't sing it for you My wife would literally pull me off the stage Anyway, so We're riding these white horses It's the church coming back with Jesus And then notice what happens It says, from his mouth Comes a sharp sword So that with it he may strike down The nations And he will be saved And he will be saved And he will be saved And he will be saved And he will be saved And he will be saved And he will be saved And he will rule them with a rod of iron And he treads the winepress Of the fierce wrath of God The Almighty Now, in just a minute We're going to read Why he's going to use this sword On all of the nations
Because they're all going to They're all going to I don't want to talk to somebody From Massachusetts right now Because they're all going to come against him, right? But when Jesus shows up to bring victory He's going to do it with The sword that comes out of his mouth Now, this doesn't mean a physical sword Is coming out of his mouth That he's wielding around with his mouth Now, it means he's going to defeat them By the word of his mouth Because that's where the power is The words that come out of his mouth, right? I want you to think about The power in the words of Jesus' mouth So, first of all We know that he's the one that spoke And the earth came into being, right? We know that all things were created through him Without anything
Or without him was not anything made That was made We learned that from John chapter 1 Therefore, he spoke And the world came into being We're told in the book of Hebrews That by the word of his mouth He holds all of the worlds In my hand In motion That the world stays in motion Because of the word of his mouth Well, then we jump into the book of John And remember when they came to arrest Jesus In the garden of Gethsemane In the book of John And they said Are you Jesus of Nazareth? Do you remember how he replied to him? He said, I am And do you remember what happened when he said I am They hit the ground, right? Like all of these soldiers Just completely get wiped out Because he says One phrase Two words I am Now, if I'm Jesus at this point in time
I screw with them a little bit, right? Like they all stand back up And he's like, I am I could just do this all night, boys Don't worry, I'm in control That's not what he does, though But that's the power of his mouth And now he's going to come back And what happens when he comes back? He defeats all of his armies With the word of his mouth Now, if the words that come forth From the mouth of Jesus Are that important That powerful How much more should we not pay attention To the words that he has said? He had prophets and priests Write down for us But he had teachers write down for us It tells us that there is power In the word of God A power that we need not have to defend We just simply have to unleash Both in our own lives
And in the lives of the people around us So, he comes down The sword comes out of his mouth He's going to rule with a rod He's going to rule with a rod of iron He's treading the winepress Of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty And on his robe And on his thigh He has the name written King of Kings And Lord of Lords Right? Like Jesus has a sweet name tag on And he's got a sweet tattoo on his thigh But all say the same thing King of Kings Lord of Lords That way if anybody doesn't know Who the guy on the white horse is They can look and go He's the King of Kings And Lord of Lords We know because that's what his name tag says, right? Then we move on to the victory that comes Or this last battle Notice what it says in verse 17
Then I saw an angel standing in the sun And he cried out with a loud voice Saying to all the birds which fly in midheaven Come Assemble For the great supper of God So that you may eat the flesh of kings And the flesh of commanders The flesh of mighty men And the flesh of horses And those who sit on them And the flesh of all men Both free men and slaves And small and great And I saw the beast The kings of the earth And their armies assembled to make war Against him who sat on the horse And against his army I love this next scene because it says I saw an angel standing in the sun You know what that means about this angel? It was brighter Than the sun Than the sun Again, why would this angel be that bright? Well, it's come from the throne room of God
So the very glory of God Is emanating through this angel It says I saw this angel standing in the sun And notice what this angel is doing This angel is flying in midheaven In other words, flying across the globe A place where everybody can see it And what's it doing? It's saying Come assemble for the great supper of God So that you may eat the flesh of the kings And the commanders Both small and great men and kings Both small and great Everybody that's going to come to war Against the guy on the white horse He calls them all to a supper Interesting, isn't it? In this chapter, two suppers are mentioned Did you notice that? The first supper that's mentioned Is the marriage supper of the Lamb And who shows up to that one?
Well, everybody that shows up is blessed But we know for sure that the bride At this marriage supper of the Lamb Is the church But then there's a second supper that's mentioned And the second supper that's mentioned Is the supper of all those Who have rebelled against God All those who have decided That they want to wage war Against the rider on the white horse Who want to wage war against Jesus himself Only what they don't realize about that supper Is that they're the meal Because there will come a point in time Where the Antichrist will bring all of the armies together To come against God After all, he's already lifted himself up To be God So he wages war against God himself Therefore Jesus descends And Jesus descends And brings victory
Only Jesus doesn't bring victory Because he lines up all the right artillery shells You know, I love war movies I love movies about generals Who can get all of their guys in the right places And the strategy of war Jesus doesn't need a strategy He's just like, right, and they're done Because what's coming out of his mouth? A sharp two-edged sword His very words That are enough As we're told in the Psalms To cause the deer to calve That breaks the sword Of the cedars of Lebanon Because his word is so powerful He says, prepare yourself, you birds of the air Because I'm about to provide a feast for you Unlike anything you've ever seen before Because the kings are waging war against me And I will defeat them And notice what it says Verse 20
It says, and the beast Or the Antichrist was seized And with him the false prophet Who performed the signs of his presence By which he deceived those Who had received the mark of the cross Of the beast And those who worshipped his image These two were thrown alive Into the lake of fire Which burns with brimstone And the rest were killed with the sword Which came from the mouth of him Who sat on the horse And all the birds were filled with their flesh And so this last battle takes place Only it's not much of a battle It was over before it began Because Jesus is going to win And he comes and he grabs the beast And he grabs the false prophet And notice where it says he sends them He sends them to The lake of fire Which is burning with fire and brimstone
Now this is different than Where the average sinner goes When they die today Right now If somebody doesn't come to faith in Jesus Christ They go to hell It's an unfortunate truth But it's the truth nonetheless Because if you're willing to step over The crucified body of Jesus Christ Then hell is where you end up But we find that it actually can get worse than that Because there is a second death There is a second judgment that's coming And there's a place called the lake of fire That's intended for Satan and his demons And anybody that follows This antichrist and this false prophet Will be cast there But all who follow All who followed them Will end up there eventually too When they are judged In that second judgment When they face that second death
It says And the rest were killed with the sword Which came from the mouth of him Who sat on the horse And all the birds Were filled with their flesh So a couple of things that I'd like to close with The first is the question Which feast will you be at? I think it's a plausible question to ask At this point in time Which feast will you be at? Will you be at the marriage supper of the lamb? Or will you be at the feast of the birds?
Brothers and sisters The only way that you can know for sure That you're at the marriage supper of the lamb Is if your faith is in Jesus Christ and him alone Repenting of sins And putting your faith In him The second one that I have for you is this It's another question And that's Where are you laying up your treasures? Are you laying up your treasures here on earth? Or are you laying up your treasures in heaven? Because I don't know about you But I want to be able to be clothed with that I want to be able to be clothed with that fine linen The righteous acts of the saints The only way that I can do that Is if I'm laying up my treasures in heaven Where neither moth nor rust can destroy And thieves can't break in and steal And then the second one is
And then my last thing that I want you to know is this The last thing that we endeth is Jesus is coming back Amen And he will judge everything else that's going on in this world Listen It's not my battle Right now I don't know about you But sometimes it's easy to want God to call down judgment On all the things that are going on in this earth Right? Lord bring the judgment Listen that's not my job My job's not the judgment What's my job? My job is to give out the message My job is to give out the message The message of the gospel Do you notice what Jesus left his disciples with? He didn't leave them with And now it's your turn to judge the earth No, what did he tell them to do?
He said you need to go and be witnesses You need to go and be witnesses of me Because in the same way that I'm leaving I'm coming back In the same way that I'm taking off I'm coming back again Therefore you go and be witnesses In Jerusalem, in Judea, in Samaria In the other parts of the earth Because brothers and sisters We live in a world that's going to end up At the second feast And we need to get the truth of the gospel To the people that are around us Because Jesus is coming back Amen Father we come to you And Lord I do thank you that you are coming back Lord I thank you that you win That you win in the end But Lord may we be those witnesses for you in the meantime May we be those witnesses for you Who are sharing the truth of the gospel
With the people that are around us That you love more than we could ever imagine And so Lord Do your work in us Prepare our hearts Let praise come forth from our lips And continue to strengthen us in you In Jesus name Amen Be blessed
